How beautiful is this? A charming oil on canvas portrait of a young Victorian girl - a true picture of innocence. The painting is framed as an oval in a giltwood frame, which unfortunately obscures any possible signature or date. However, the remnants of the original picture backing are still intact, revealing that this was framed by John Clowes Grundy, “print seller to the Queen”- Queen Victoria, to be precise.
Condition Report
The canvas appears to be in excellent condition with only minor stretching. The frame has seen better days, with losses to the gilding leaving the wonderfully characterful piece you see before you.
